"Abide with me, Beloved."
Authored: October 16, 2022
We stopped under windswept skies; dusk was falling as the last rays of the Sun painted hues on clouds. We were in the middle of nowhere. Maybe this was justice for what we had done. Our own judgment for callously disregarding the laws of our planet.
I turned to you, and we looked at each other and we knew.
"Time shall diminish what we have done. Infinity beckons. Eternity will judge us and render us forgotten. What could have been? What may have been? Imagine if we, were better. Had we been able to best our demons and perhaps we may have met other Intelligences in this vast Universe?"
You reached out and I took your hand and under this windswept mosaic, we heard the din of the coming Wave of Radiation.
"Will it hurt, Malenfant?" you asked
Above the mountain range in the far distance, that Wave could be seen. It had taken the Northern Hemisphere and lay waste to Humanity.
"I am just sorry I found you right at the end. I came to know the true immensity of Love, right now at the end."
We clung to each other, your head on my chest, my fingers caressing your hair, both lost in our final thoughts. This was truly an ending. But I had found Love. And in those final moments, I knew Humanity had failed.
Suddenly, we heard something new. The fading blue skies parted, and we saw it.
In our minds we heard it.
'Finally, dear ones, finally...."
"Finally Dear Ones, finally."

With sentient eyes, we turned our eyes upward and glimpsed at the very end of our story, a malignant truth.
My heart broke again as my eyes drank in the witnessing of the grand truth.
"Where were you? Damn you! You could have stopped all this?!" I heard her yell. "You could have stepped in and saved us!"
In the horizon nearest the Death Wave, an explosion, so fierce and bright consumed the sky. In our heads, that voice....
"Dear ones, your suffering was at your own hands. Your race had the faculties and the abilities to blossom and strive and what did you race do with it? Consume, destroy, plunder and poison. The tools of your success were always there, but your race looked for the Darkness rather than the Light. Your race looked for Pain rather than Love!"
The explosion shot high into the roaring jet stream and wad dispersing the Radiation.
"Dear ones! You two are the Endlings of your species. But this is not the end. The Gates of Perihelion now opens. Step through. Your physical forms will be left at the Gate and beyond, you will begin a new chapter. And this Earth, will begin to heal. And the process of Evolution will recommence."
We looked at each other, our memories of everything behind us, pressed together.
"Shall we?" I asked
"I'm scared, Malenfant," you answered.
The explosion grew larger and all consuming....
"This Earth is no longer home for your species," the voice stated without an inflection of emotion. "You stay; you perish. You move across the Gates, something awaits."
I looked up once again.
The Gates of Perihelion beckoned.

We crossed the threshold. We moved into something anew and we shed our corporeal bodies. The last Humans, male and female, left the Human form behind and became atoms hitched together by unseen powers. We crossed over, a crossing point from the Garden of Eden into something grand.
Gone was the historical pages of blood, gore and deceptions. Gone were the wails of dissonance and the moans of grief. Gone are the struggles and the wars and the hatreds. Gone were those mushroom clouds of radiation and the hideous screams of countless dying souls.
So, we crossed the Gates of Perihelion and ventured forth. And the voice now boomed from around us in this brilliant and radiant light. And it boomed loud, a voice that brough clarity and understanding.
As it spoke, ahead of us, we saw a vast starscape map form. The Universes alight! The ebb and rise of intelligences, achieving Ascension and the pattern was everywhere. But naught for Humanity, the only failures of the grand tapestry.
And the screen shimmered and under star-filled sky full of Stars and a big Moon, was a lone tree in a barren wilderness. And in one of the barest of branches was a hominid creature, its eyes peering with the first instances of sentience. It was watching us. As we watched it. And we were seeing the first thoughts of realisation...a new intelligence, somewhere on a recovered Earth.
"Evolution continues, Malenfant. You and your partner have now seen the death of your species and the beginnings of a new species gain sentience. Dear ones, your story is at an end. Your race will be remembered by us, the Benefactors. We are the Observers, the Guardians left over by a long-lost Grand Sentience. You will be remembered...."
And Malenfant looked at her, no longer fully human and she looked at him. All he could do was think the word "thank you".
We faded into Eternity, and the Darkness of Infinity. What an end to Humanity.
.... A whisper
"Phase: Love."

"Malenfant, aren't we supposed to be dead?"
Authored: October 22, 2022
Eyes awakened and we were under water, the darkness surrounded us, encompassed us. Bubbles traversed the darkness toward a smidgen of light.
Malenfant recounted the Gates of Perihelion and shedding human form. Was this not the end of the story of Humanity? Should we not be dead? The last two Humans. Expiration.
Where was that voice? It was now silent, an emptiness of vast expanse. What now?
I tried to reach out to you. My hands, my fingers were no longer part of my body. My eyes turned to you, and I did not see a human. I saw a part fish, part lizard with small multiple feet.
You turned to me and, in our eyes, we saw the same thing.
"Dear ones, you recommence the story of Humanity. Now swim to the surface and for the first time reclaim a new Earth. The story of a new Humanity restarts now. Learn from the past, do better. Be better. We will Observe. This time we will step in. Go, now!"
Sometime later, where Time no longer mattered.
Two creatures, the proto-Humans ventured from the waves unto Land. On a rejuvenated Earth, a new Paradise. A new Garden of Eden.
A new beginning.
"Do better...."

"Everything is watching this moment approach. The main event is at hand, the spectators have taken their seats and await the grand event. Human tears, human faith, human actions, human ideology, and everything before, between and now, heralds this. The razor's edge of truth dictates the omnipresence of what is about to happen. Malenfant, did your race think at all? That every animal species lost, every plant species lost, every ecosystem exterminated would not come without cost?"
"Oh, the universe watched. The intelligences observed. And every action has a reaction. Karmic resonance built and built like a dam and now is set to spill. The Human race now watches from below the proverbial hill as a boulder of truth and power builds speed as it rolls down-hill. Earth is awakening from her stupor, Malenfant. Ancient viruses are now circulating your atmosphere, Malenfant. And mad people are about to press the red buttons that will unleash final Madness, Malenfant."
"And we will not intervene. We will observe. As we have always done. We will Quarantine as always, this Solar System. And we will teach the new races what Humanity was. It will be a testament. It will be a Eulogy, and it will be last Rites."
"...Now watch the Moon Malenfant. It begins."
Incongruent Truth (Queue Up for Infinity)
Authored: December 22, 2022
I looked up at the sky one day and saw something that I could not explain away. Partially the blue sky was broken by a glitch of numbers in darkness. Seemingly a sort of code. And as fast as it appeared it was gone and replaced by blue stagnant sky, cloudless. What did I witness? What is the meaning of this?
On this day of days, he sat in front of the gravestone, on that day below darkened grey formed clouds, begging to release rains. He cried, wept for the loss he felt in his heart. He was truly now alone. An incongruent truth. He began, with the barest croaking voice.
"Whose life do I lead now? They took you from me, my beloved. Whose blood do I now bleed? You are no longer present in form. What do I do now?"
Only nothing answered Malenfant, that fateful day.
With Ceaseless Turmoil Seething; And from This Chasm; Our Last Hope Lost Hope

“After the emergence of intelligence, the story of any biosphere tended to get a lot simpler. It was a major reason for the silence of the stars.”
“It got to the point where he didn’t even look up at the sky anymore as he blundered back and forth. The human mind had evolved for just one universe, he thought. How much of this crap was he supposed to take? He felt exhausted, resentful, bewildered. “Wait.” He paused. He had loped out of the portal onto another stretch of scuffed, anonymous regolith. She was lying in his arms, her weight barely registering. He looked down into her face and pushed up her gold sun visor. “Cadence?” She licked her lips. “Look. Up there.” No Galaxy visible, but a starry sky. The stars looked, well, normal. But he’d learned that meant little. “So what?” Cadence was lifting her arm, pointing. He saw three stars, dull white points, in a row. And there was a rough rectangle of stars around them—one of them a distinctive red—and what looked like a Galaxy disc, or maybe just a nebula, beneath … “Holy shit,” he said. She whispered, “There must be lots of universes like ours. But, surely to God, there is only one Orion.” And then light, dazzling, unbearably brilliant, came stabbing over the close horizon. It was a sunrise. He could actually feel its heat through the layers of his suit.
He looked down at the ground at his feet. The rising light cast strong shadows, sharply illuminating the miniature crevices and craters there. And here was a “crater” that was elongated, and neatly ribbed. It was a footprint. He stepped forward, lifted his foot, and set it down in the print. It fit neatly. When he lifted his foot away the cleats of his boot hadn’t so much as disturbed a regolith grain. It was his own footprint. Good grief. After hundreds of universes of silence and remoteness and darkness, universes of dim light and shadows, he was right back where he started.”
“And—oh.
Watch the Moon, Malenfant. Watch the Moon. It’s starting—”
The Time-Lax rippled, far from a wandering Human eye. It was like a Joker in a Box; each jump was a different variable.

"I watched you burn the ground you walked on. I watched you raise your fist at the stars and scream into the heavens. I watched you desecrate the ground you walked on and the waters you drank from. I watched you. Your species. Time does not wash away one's sins, Malenfant!"
The winds rose.
And those eyes burned like a tempest in a desert.
You rose in form and manifested from the elements. A feminine form and a masculine form merging. But something else, so alien in your features. Your smile hid a grand intelligence. Lips upturned, a humanoid form.
You began to speak, and it was an alien vocal range.
"Your kind wanted to believe in a God. A God that would save you from yourselves. A kind and merciful God, that would wipe away your transgressions?"
Your face changed and, in a moment, it became clear...
An image of a distant planet. Radiation burned through the now toxic atmosphere. And the Planet was screaming painfully.
A maniacal laugh shattered the air around us.
And the Planet was burning. A Hell.
"Sins will be paid. God is not what you think it is. It is not a form. It is... (garbled static) ..."
I closed my eyes, and it became painted in the darkness and the light.
A sentence slid from my lips, "All sins had to be repaid."
The winds roared and the din of countless stars coming together became an epiphany.
A Future

"When are you coming home?" you asked
"This is my home now," I replied.
"Bring down the Sky, young Malenfant. Come roar unto us, your pain, your anger and your displaced vengeance. Is Nothingness the less of Substance? We put to an end, the hatreds, the viciousness and the mass death, your race inflicted onto each other. The History of your Species, blood drained into Earth's manifest wounds. So, come, sir, come with your misplaced vengeance."
It was only 'Yesterday', that I could remember the vividness of it all. The bloodshed of a rioting mass of people, absolute viciousness in their eyes. Guns going off, and lifeless eyes staring up at an uncaring sky. The Sky was Falling, this day. And I wondered, unbidden, I wondered if at the end of the Human race, that you were safe and seeing the end as I was seeing it?
"I am an Image. I am an aberration. I am a dream. I am a nightmare. I am that light show when you close your eyes behind darkness. I am the field of stars you see when you have hope. I am ethereal and I am Form. I am invigorated by Will."
Long after we are gone, our voices will reach the civilizations of alien origin. This will be our first Contact. This will also be a Remembrance. Of all that we never would see, feel, or accomplish.
A whisper....
