You stared up at the night sky
Eyes on the Stars
Always with one last hope
You lived by the rules
Worked hard, saved money, dreamt big
Hoping to buy a house, start a family
And maybe get lucky, become wealthy.
You bought shares, invested in stocks
You saw the ups and downs of the Market
You met someone, and got married
Finances consolidated, hopes high
All was good for a while.
You voted, you partook in society
You believed the dream and the words of politicians
You took in the ideological hook of nationalistic fervor
You became fearful of the other.
Then came the crash.
Nothing lasts forever
And the ground beneath you gave way
That one last hope vanished
Savings gone, the market crashed, the stocks plummeted
War was on the horizon
You looked into your partner's eyes and saw unmitigated fear.
You fell and fell hard
This is the eventual end of Capitalism, a freefall into despair
A capitalistic hellscape
A savage brutalism
Hope left long ago, replaced by the naked form of debauchery.
