".... This world was only temporary...."

This place was never broken. It was us. You and me. We. The collective. Sure, we built great things and yet we couldn't build empires that lasted the strength of time. This is the duality of our species, we are fractured. Broken pieces of flesh and bone twisted together by sinews and tendons. But never forget, that we break easily.

This world will never end, this ball of blue, white and green will move forward without us. And when the Sun finally gives out, it still will be a husk of what it was. But even then, even then, it will be permanence.

This world was only temporary for us, for we were temporary. And we will fade into the ides of yesterday, our presence will be forgotten.

So, I want to tell you this as this storm approaches, and the lightning surges and the sins of our parents cast hell upon us. I want to say I remember. The fallen, the dead, each painful dread I caused in my life. It doesn't matter anymore. These are the final times of a species that has failed in all ways imaginable.

I loved. I once had faith. I once believed in a God. I once hoped for salvation. However, I was deluded. There is nothing to save us. Because we are fiends. We are the demons and the devils of our fictions. We made wars, we fought. We killed each other. Violence was our testament. And we gave rise to thirsty and bloody Gods.

I loved you. This storm approaches. Let us step into the threshold and beholden to the understanding that "this world was only temporary."

For us.
