Synesthesia

We were almost there
We had made it to the crossing point
If only, we had reached out for the door handle.
But in our naivety, we thought we knew better.
The threshold was never to be crossed.

The door handle faded and the door changed colours
A sudden burst of colour and images flooded our minds
Sensations unknown permeated across emotions
Boundaries fell, and everything made sense.

The door began to fade and behind it was the darkness
A Void so dark, so still, so soul destroying.
It was too late now.
The Universe would absolve itself and make corrections.
That ripple in the waters of Galaxies would smoothen.

[{On some shoreline, somewhere, anywhere. A byte would be heard. The children of Earth now deceased. Under an alien Sun and waves of golden ochre. Everything beautiful and everything horrendous would be remembered. There would be no more hatreds, wars, genocides, no more violence. The Universe would never entertain corruption like that again. That had been an aberration.}]

The Door opened....
