I will wait for you till the very end
My dear old friend of mine
Your heart was weary and cold
You didn’t think you’d make it till these years old
Yet here we are living in a world
That doesn’t mean much but
The little hands of a loving baby
The smile from a lover who knows your pain
Even if it’s not in the present
The future holds impossibility
For the umpteenth to the first
We grow not for ourselves
But for the ones who are growing in our arms
We speak not to be heard
But for that one person who will listen.
Again, I may not be your best friend
Fuck if I was, you’d never be sad alone
Love isn’t an excuse to toss them away
It has nothing to gain but everything you’ll lose
Love will outlast your life
Here I am
Waiting for you one last time
Till my heart will come to
The very end you spoke of.
You’ll find people you think you’ll spend the rest of your days with
You’ll take comfort in that permanence
Only for that to be ripped away, and filled with the knowledge that permanence doesn’t exist
Everything is temporary
But it goes both ways, for so are the bad times
You’ll get through this, and move on
You will be okay one day.
