The Last of the Green

Authored: June 19, 2023

Everything winds down
Here at the shores of the dried-out lake
Where once we watched ships leave
Where we lost the Sea
To a runaway Greenhouse Effect.

Touch me, you bade me
Let us throw off this yoke
Even if for one millisecond
Let us forget what we have done.

I remembered walking through the forest
Smelling nature at its best
The Green was beautiful
It was life
And I was but for the moment, a gallant gentleman.

I heard you cry next to me
And I comforted you
And we held onto each other wordlessly
You reached out with your hand
And I took hold of it.

Everything winds down
Here
As the air around me thickens
As the last trees die
As the last water dries up.
.....

Let us throw off this yoke
I remembered that forest
And I was never alone
I had you.

Bogatyri moje....
