Halcyon (I)

“Will I see you again?” you asked, the final question that a human would ever ask.

….

Those final moments, before eyes close forever
The physical form ended
Leave it all behind
Ascension has commenced
Only the Stars witness
Souls leaving the atmosphere to move beyond.

….

A crimson portal, amber and orange hues
Not a black hole
Not even a wormhole
Something else entirely
A transmitter to an event horizon.

….

You can think
“I can see,” your words are thoughts
Echoes that repel and rebound
You watch.
Worlds end, Stars collapse
Planets form; Stars condensed.

….

There will be no more pain
No more war
No more disease
No more struggle.

….

The Portal ends
And you are falling back into atmosphere
Back into a building
Such radiance and then warm darkness
A womb.

….

Rebirth, reincarnation.

….

“Yes, you will see me again,” I answered.
