A Gallant Man (The Nobility of Loneliness)

Authored: June 3, 2023

I watched you from afar, as if in a swirl of a dream
Threadbare, my soul became tatters
You asked me once, "Will we be forever?"
And we fell unto ourselves, trying to flee a truth.

Years later, we parted
And my life is now better
Loneliness is no more a crucible
And there's a nobility in being alone.

We tried to run from our demons
Rather than face them
We were imprisoned by our own debilitations
There's a nobility to know one's self worth
That unhappiness is itself a vice.

Forever is a word
A foreign concept
Nothing lasts
Nothing is
Forever.

Let's fall back into the ocean
And know we tried
We were only Human
Gallant is he who found out
That there is a nobility in loneliness.
