I wanted to understand you
I wanted to feel your pain
I wanted to be there for you
I wanted to be that rock you needed.

I was told that people would hurt you in life
And for many years I fought against those words
Believing in a hope that people were all good
Believing in the hope that people would do good.

So many times, you cast stones at me
With words that bore chains on my body and mind
All I wanted was to love you
But Love should never be malignant
Love should never come with Regrets.

I wanted to protect you from this world
However, who would protect me from you?

So many years now have passed
I am the sum total of experience that stole my soul
Eviscerations of the heart
And the Whispers become dreams
Hope, hope is just a word.

Silence beckons forever more
