Trapped for so long
Encased in freezing ice
Until Now
The world around it had been heating up
The prison was melting
And came the day where it was once again under fresh air
Sea levels rising but land now free under blazing suns.
Awakening from slumber
This protein from ancient moments
Reactivated, reawakened
This small piece, unseen by human eyes
Had laid the woolly mammoth to early graves.
But these were different times
The era of Mankind in the throes of climate calamity
Trying to save cities from the waves of destruction coming
Year past the Sars_Cov_2 pandemic
Unknown that rising seas, melting ice, new land
Unleashed an ancient virus.
Blown by Antarctic winds into the Jetstream, changing patterns
The last shards of the covid virus in the air
This was a chance meeting, evolution now bound the old
With the new, mutation, mixing, recombination
Genesis.
On some South Ocean trawler, a man breaths in this combination
The virus meets an immune system and destroys it
Within hours the man would be dead,
But he has passed on the mutation
The last pandemic has started
Infinity's hand reaches midnight
The reaping would begin.
