We’ve Succumbed; We’re Awash in This Digital Landscape

Authored: July 26, 2021

Time has passed and I mourn you as if I lost you yesterday
Moments accrue like lost cents of long ago
Your voice soothes me as if you spoke yesterday
I close my eyes, and I have succumbed
Remember beloved.

That day we spent on a meadow of flowers
Looking up at clouds and making shapes, naming them
Laughing with each other's antics
We held each other, looked into each others eyes
The thrill of electricity surged through us,
Our heartbeats became a cadence.

We've succumbed
Memories orbit along the periphery
And we're awash by the static electricity
Of a modern world
I watch you through a screen
Dancing when you thought I'd not look
A smile on your lips
Your hips swaying to unknown music.

Motion of necessity; involves a change in perspective
With a warmth inside, I walk into the dark
I lost you at my side, but you are in my heart
I am breaking with you
You are not alone
Always and everlasting.

This cadence is a motion of necessity....
