PROSE
Come young one. There is much for you to learn and to take in before you reach enlightenment."
Under the dim streetlights of a suffering city skyline, the homeless shuffle to make space for more bodies. Priced out of owning a home, calling an apartment shelter, their welfare payments stopped and abandoned by a government that no longer seeks the common good. The curdling cries in the back dark alleyway, crime is rampant. Here comes the 'authority' with their batons. Forcing their way through a disillusioned sea of people that became sheep. Raise those batons and inflict the will of 'Law and Order'. The heart of the city ringed by steel electrified fences, the wealthy made a fortress, they eat and drink and watch death reign supreme around them. The city is awash with blood. Empty wallets open and blood rushes out. Flagpoles run into skies, the flag flails in a dying wind, soot within fabric. Everything mourns everything else.
Here is the beginning and the end that has no ending. Perpetuity dances in an arena of human mayhem. Humans fight, God's weep. The believers ask for deliverance. There is silence from above. Heaven does not proclaim a new justice. And people leave houses of worship dazed and confused.
"Come child. The artefact has sent the Monolith. Let us observe its wonders."
Alien textures greet the human eye. A darkness illuminates a dusk, under orange skies of a setting sun. It appears. Aligned to the star system it originated from. If you close your eyes, you may hear the barest of whispers. And the final whispers begin the activation.
