Sorrowful Earth

Authored: September 26, 2020

As I depart this sorrowful Earth, one last time
I dream of thee
Your auburn hair, your dark green eyes
Beseeching me, subduing me, wearing me down
You looked at me that one last time, your eyes
They stole my soul.

I remember your touch, that one last time
Your fingers on my flesh, seared me, scolded me
All I wanted was you.

That moment, you rested your cheek against my back
Your arms wrapped around me
I held you to me, I didn't want to let you go
To let this moment end.

I will remember you beloved.

On this pier, I look out at silenced waves
Into a grey horizon
I close my eyes and let myself fall....
