I watch this river flow across the countryside
Carrying our sadness along with it
The wind still blows East and Westward
Along it carries whispers and echos.
Our happiness has just been tossed,
Beneath our feet now it dwells
Dusted and dried in the long wait
Maybe we lost the glory we never had.
I thought we stole the world
Seems the world held us captive
We sang our songs while it opened
Then we just got stuck in it.
We just wander along these paths
Maybe we are entangled
The last song that we never sang
But we waved and waved like that was goodbye.
