Ideological Death

Authored: December 2, 2019

We fought for now blood drenched flags
We killed many with weapons of much destruction
Etched on the land itself death and blood
We sent the young to die for a glorious cause
In their final moments, there were no glory, but wide-eyed
Questioning "what am I doing here?"
There is no right or just cause no more
Our planet if one could see it, battered and bruised
We were its abusers.

Humanity fought on wings of ideology
Forgetting something higher, these ideologies were man-made
Wrapped in religious and militaristic agendas
Becoming poison for all to be blind to see
We drew up borders and these borders became our prison
Of fear, of anger, of hostility
We lost sight of the greater picture, the higher form.

The world burns above
And below in those few bunkers
Men go mad below
What they witnessed above drags them into their own hells
And that is what it is in the end, that wry abyss
It is your own hell
The devil and God were creations of our manifests
We manifested it
We ordained it
We now die by it.

Blind faith
Blind loyalty
Indoctrination
A fast abyss approaches
Bunkers become tombs
Until we die by our own ideological death.

And the Universe will ask a certain question
"What went wrong?"
And the grounds of Earth, charred, burnt and irradiated
Will whisper a eulogy that we will never hear.

The skulls with evaporated eyes
So many bones of animal life
Dark skies, acid rains
Fallout
Crumbling cities
Fires alight
And that final scene of a general
In Bunker 405
Taking his own weapon of death
And shooting himself into dark oblivion
Was it worth it? He'd ask
Never mind
Nevermore.

Somewhere, in some place, in some time....
Simple cells join again
Evolution begins again....
Maybe this time, a better run.
