I tried for so long to move onward and forward
Past the pain, past the regret, past the memories
I closed my eyes and dreamt of you staring at a waterfall
Your back turned to me, I loved you for that mere moment
Then you turned and you smiled at me coldly
My soul turned to ice and something broke within me.
Voices, that's what I hear at voice. Every night.
An ethereal experience, painting images
So, my dreams, they ponder the what if's.
Then your smile returns, cutting me to pieces.
Opening my eyes in the morning....
I get out of bed, and find some structure in a schedule
The dream fades as I think of mundane things
But that coldest smile.... etched in my memory
Looks at me in the mirrors of remembrance.
