Untitled Poem (Mature Themes)

Authored: August 1, 2018

You judged me for not wanting to have a child
You found it incredulous that I would not have a child
It was my choice to not want to have a child
Look at our world?
It’s fuckin’ falling apart
Everybody wants their lineage to carry on
Nobody wants to be the first to say, “Hang on!”

Don’t judge me for not wanting to bring a kid into this world
Ask yourself what is this drive that you have?
That drives you to want a kid
So much dysfunctionality
Kids having kids
Unready adults having kids….
The cycle continues.

As our world chokes
And we wonder why the temperatures rise
Why summer’s get longer and hotter
We want it all, we’re stubborn and selfish
We’re killin’ ourselves and our ecosystems.

So don’t judge me for taking a stand
I have my reasons
I am not gonna take those judging words and eyes
I will not add to the growing dysfunction, a ticking bomb
The world can only take so much….
