“Into the Distance; In Memory Only”

Authored: July 25, 2018

In this greyness, as I walked down this jetty
Along almost still steely grey waters
Into this fog surrounding me
I remembered you, just for a second, a flash of resonance
Slithers of memory, encroaching then vanishing
Into this mist.

There's no time for mourning
In memory only, I came to the end of the jetty
Behind me, lost to the fog.

Beside me the fog took form
I closed my eyes as I smelled your scent
You were so real, you took my arms
Wrapping them around you
I breathed you in
For that very moment, you were real
And not a memory.

Into the mist, we went, I was lost to this world
Fog surrounding me
Suddenly, no more, on this jetty
In memory only, we would be.
