You told me how wrong I was to not believe in God
How I’d die for my sins
And would go to hell
I smiled at you, released from my own prison of belief
Shattered monoliths course the sky
Emblems of mankind’s hopes of a saviour.
I showed you a film of countless conflicts caused by religion
Beliefs so manipulated that they conditioned the masses
I showed you of red blood staining battlefields
Of lifeless eyes and empty screams
Where was your God? Silence
Your response was to spit on my face and walk away.
There’ll be no rapture, no God coming to save us
In the final days of mankind, the places of worship
Will empty and lost souls will slink back into the darkness
They’ll believe, believe, believe….
Until they do not.
