Point of Desolation

Authored: May 2, 2018

The stony desolation of the desert
Paled into insignificance;
In choked desolation, he watched her leave
The starkness of loss
The grimness of human cruelty
The barren landscape of a broken heart.

A sense of dismal failure
Shattered a bare Earth
Crimson in the welling of tears
There's no joy in misery
Unless you turn back and watch what you set off
The icy winds mourn
The stony desolation of the desert
Weep with sorrow.

A state of complete emptiness
Where once love had a home
Now empty but for melancholy whispers
Grief in these whispers belie memories
Of a better time
But there is no joy in misery
At the point of pure and unfiltered desolation.
