I watched the silhouette of you burn
Brightly in the darkness,
The ash rose to a dark sky
And set it on fire
I looked up and saw the light blossom
As if a million suns were born in this moment.

It is said when one stops breathing, the brain continues
Impulses of electricity course through
In those moments maybe this is where our consciousness
Ascends into the sky
So that we will fall back into the ocean of stars.

I wonder if when we look at the stars in the night sky
Or stare on the beach toward an azure horizon
If each star is simply a vestibule for a human spirit?

Or mayhaps our spirits become trees on this Earth
Reach up and outwards towards the expanse above
When the wind blows, you can hear the ancient song
'And we will fall back into ocean of stars'....

In the end all that we wanted
Was connection between the darkness
Of flesh and bone, of mind and spirit
Memories recede....
A memory of you and I....

I'm scared.
