The laughter, the smiles, the lights, the noise
It all sounds pretty and looks amazing from the outside
But all you need to do is to really open your eyes
Look at the street corners, the alleyways.
the train stations, the bus stations, hidden corners
they linger, they live, they try to sleep
they beg for money, for food.
The fine dining venues packed with suited guests
Gold cutlery: extravagance, riches not trickling down
Waste, a stench permeates from the full pins of restaurants
They won't give their food to the needy
The cityscape glamorous, euphoric, money flows
Couples on dates, tourists visiting
The lights gleam, the dark skies lit up.
Behind it all is a facade, all it needs is one loss of control
One by one, the city lights turn off....
Suddenly one can hear the mutterings and murmurings
The cityscape is fading, darkness overcomes
And our eyes met....
And we touched....
And we communicated
And we said this darkness would be overcome....
