Only Words

The Undated Poems Collection

The old adage that sticks and stones, don't hurt,
But words do, still holds true,
Today you told me you had cheated on me,
Today you told me that your heart belonged to another,
And today you ended what we had.

You told me that you still loved me,
But not as a lover more like a brother,
I listened to you talk...heard you and felt you,
Only words...they were only words,
remnants of that which once was.

So we part, like two doves,
parting to fly in hither direction,
We were once together and now we aren't.
Only words...that's all they were,
mirages of what you once felt for me.

Only words...so I bid you adieur,
I wish you happiness in your life,
I hope you find what you want,
For in the end, I tried, you gave up.
Only words, all in the end.
