At the end we regret the way we were
Within the mainframe, we reframe
Logic isn't dictated, it is learned
The pain of a million souls lies overhead
Like a pensive cloud above humanity.
The anger, the resentment, the pain, the illusions.
The memories, the promises, the platitudes.
The kiss, the stolen glances, the crying eyes
The trembling hands, the cries of the haunted and hurt.
At the end.... we regret.... the way we were.
The gunshot that pierces a city alleyway
That happens to end the life of a human
The figure who runs away
As still warm blood pours out on cold bitumen
At the end we regret.... the way we were.
Winter thieves take the leaves off trees
Yonder under a grey lit horizon
The human you....
There was a better way than this
Dictate nothing, immerse logic within
Lift the pensive cloud
And let us not
At the end regret the way we were.
