01 - Heavy Rain

The woman with layers of dried tears
Looks into a mirror and sees the bruises
Her cries and whimpers only silenced by heavy rain
Alone in her apartment
Her abuser has left for now
But she knows he will be back, drunk and drugged up
She felt alone
Deep down, all of them felt as she did, they felt abandoned.

02. Home Is A Concept

The young boy hears the shouts between his dad and mum
From beyond his bedroom door
Then he hears the breaking of plates and vases
Then a cry of pain and hurt
Home is a concept
The boy cries and touches his door, alone he is
This repeats almost every night
All he wanted was a happy family
Deep down, all of them felt as he did, they felt abandoned.

03. A Drop in the Ocean

The elderly woman on a walking frame
Was afraid of her own daughter
A woman she so loved yet was monstrous towards her
How could it end like this?
Her daughter had grabbed her frail arm and twisted it
In anger, in spite and in contempt
Love doesn't do this, but cruelty does
How this elderly woman wished for a drop of love
Deep down, all of them felt as she did, they felt abandoned.

04. I Recognise Us

The man in his late 30's looked at a image of two people in love
Where did this go? Did this exist at all?
His now ex-partner had caused ruin and internal damage
He could not make sense of the senseless
Emotional crippling
He looked down at the image
The man recognised himself and her
It had all been a malignant manipulation
Deep down, all of them felt as he did, they felt abandoned.

05. Inhale.Exhale.

On city streets the homeless reside
On street corners the veterans of war sit lost in their PTSD
A family walks along the busy street homeless checking rubbish bins for food
There's a beggar at the front of a train station with a sign
A young girl has just committed suicide in a alleyway
The lights of the city cannot hide the feeling, a growing feeling
Deep down, all of them, they felt abandoned.
