I run through this desolate forest
Painted epiphanies of a coal train on train tracks
I run in search of yonder
Running.
Looking back and forward
A muddy surface
I stumble within the tree branches
Across trail tracks
Different tracks Until I reach a barbed wire fence.
I stumble to catch up, but I cannot touch the last carriage
Then I move through the dead forest
I come to a ledge breathless
Reaching a path, I run again
Am I a hero?
Moving through the forest again
I stop to a tired walk
Reaching an underpass, I start to run again
Desolate.
It starts to rain
Burning my flesh, it is acid rain
And I run faster
Searching....
The trees become a whirl
I see the coal train again
I try to catch up to it
Failing.... I am out of breath.
I scamper up a hill on my knees
I come to an overpass
I return to the tracks
And stumble
I fall and try to stand
Continuing.
I fall again
Fading epitaphs
A lake
The last breath
A cold grey water
The last heartbeat
Flashes.
The last....
Falling to the ground...
Alone
Between frames blackness
Longer intervals
Until....
