“I Will Tell You What Love is Not……A Deserted Dust Filled Abandoned Room”

Authored: August 5, 2017

My days of loving is done for this lifetime
And I have made my peace with that
It's okay you see, I am no longer bitter
I just know my time has come and gone
I picked myself up, reattached the pieces of my soul.

Once you're born you can no longer hide
So is once you are hurt, you are free
There are memories, and those will last me
And then there are my dreams, of what could've been
I lost trust in the meaning of love
It lost definition.

I will tell you what love is not....

It is not the transmission of a lifelong illness
It is not inflicting pain by lies and abuse
It is not silent disappearing treatments
It is not lacking empathy and compassion
It is not cheating on the one you profess to love.

Those eyes, they still remain in my soul
That afternoon at the park when I reached over to embrace you
You pulled away and I saw your eyes
I saw a malice, a hatred, a predator
And your words were like a chain saw
You told me I was weak, pathetic
You questioned why you were with me
That look you gave me and those words
Will remain with me forever
They were not Love....

Halfway out of the dark
We come to a deserted dust filled room
Abandoned
Like my love
I see the dust particles dance in the air

But I still believe in Love
I can tell you another story.
Of what Love can be....
