Untitled Poem

There are too many lonely people in this world
Too many who die alone
Who live alone
Who have never experienced a loving human touch since childhood
Too many....

What does that say of our society?
When those left behind wither and die
No thoughts for those who hoped for more
And were granted less
Unmarked graves litter cemeteries.

The loneliness expands slowly
We try to fill the loneliness with gadgetry
But what we need
Is Human Touch and Human Faith in Us.

Shadows eclipse the moon
We sit alone, the alone on the beach
Taking solace of the incessant waves pounding the shore
Loneliness expands
The periphery fills
The silent are often the most in pain.

Our silent screams echo only in our heads
Your neighbour
Your travel companions each morning
Your family, your friend
Could be in pain, suffering in silence.

Too many
Have experienced no loving adult human touch
Who are on the precipice of society
Do not forget us....
We are the functional alone.
