Ghosts Will Come and Kiss Your Eyes

Authored: June 18, 2017

You walked along the beach that late afternoon
The light was fading, and the ghosts were whispering
Their whispers carried in the wind
There is a reflection in your mind
Of the past, another life, another time
Those words once true
Now are empty shells of once was and had been.

The ghosts feed on sadness and the memories of yonder
And when you close your eyes, in dreams,
Ghosts will come and kiss your eyes
So, you try not to remember, but when you close your eyes
Your dreams are visions.

In the distance thunder rolls and lightning flashes
The stars are beyond the clouds
On that empty beach the rain starts to fall
You stop and lift your face to the thunderstorm
Now the ghosts roar as if in frenzy
And you yell back.

It will take time son for those ghosts to fade
But they must and they will
In time. One way or another.
