The Loneliness Manual

Authored: April 21, 2017

Not everything will be fine
At first
You will question everything in your life
Enter the forest
Sit on a ledge and look out at the woodlands beyond
I remembered it all
All I hear now is the winds caress the branches
What shattered, what crumbled was an illusion.

It was you and I walking through the small path
In that meadow towards a group of trees
I looked behind me at you
I reached out for you with my hand
You faded
You were never real.

Don't think about the future.
Just walk forward
You loved, know that you loved.

It will get better
You will see loneliness anew.

I stand in the middle of a throng of people
They walk and flow around me
The cacophony of noise resounding
They cannot see you
But you see them all.

I will not lie to you...
I don't know if everything will be fine
At all
Ever.

I am in the meadow approaching the group of trees
Around me as I walk a mist descends
I fade from view and enter the trees.

Time sweeps away
Time takes away
It will get better
You will see loneliness not as an enemy
But your friend.
