“The Tides are as Timeless as Eternity”

Authored: March 26, 2017

I watched as a thousand souls passed me by
I felt the rhythms of a million heart beats
Solid forms traversing physical realms
I faded slowly into obscurity
Away from view.

One morning I find myself sitting on the ledge of a creek
Watching the tide go out
I am physical yet the water is liquid
I watch as the sun comes forth from a cloud
Illuminating the surface of a murky creek.

I put myself out there
I loved and gave myself to you
You butchered me and I allowed it
You were merciless
A lone assassin.

The tides are as timeless as eternity
I watched couples pass me by
Of all shapes and sizes and types
Yet I had been rejected
What was wrong with me?

Under the sun I felt the irradiated heat
My love seeps from me like the ebbing tide
Until nothing is left
I have faded into obscurity
Away from view.

All that remains
Is the whisper of the wind
Eternity plays out as the tides shift in and out
I have been lost with the forgotten multitude
I let myself fall into the water
No further rejection.
