The astronaut looks out of the window of the shuttle
Upon the surface of Earth
He is witnessing the death of his brethren
The Astronaut is joined by his colleagues
Witnesses to the grandest of funerals
The death of Humanity
At the hands of itself
Multitudes plumes of mushroom clouds
Align the continents and expand into the atmosphere
Ripples in the pond expanding and joining in their macabre dance
Hands intertwine among the astronauts
And one starts the Lord's Prayer
If only he knew that God was a figment
Upon the surface of Earth seismic eruptions occur
Mankind is being decimated
There is no God to save humanity
As the mushroom clouds of radiation envelope, the faithful
God is silent
The churches, synagogues and mosques crumble
The Astronauts suddenly are silent and some weep
The death of a species a self-suicide is hard to take in
They are the last of a clean humanity
Three men and one woman
The funeral continues....
On that shuttle a decision is made
Life support is turned off and the shuttle is manually overridden
It starts its last glide into a deadly radiated atmosphere
The last clouds start to disperse, and the last humans
See a rolling bank of death envelope the planet
The shuttle burnt and all the astronaut's unconscious
Plunge into the Pacific Ocean
A new tomb
Earth has become a tomb planet.
