The Lament of Gaia

Authored: August 26, 2014

I stood on the wet sand of that beach looking out into the distance
As waves came crashing into the sandbars and broke apart
I could see and feel the power of nature around me
In every motion of every wave, in the wind around me
In the sun, in the clouds.
On the sand were shells of every shape
Beautiful, natural and real.

Walking barefoot on the wet sand as the water surrounded my feet
I could feel the thrumming pulse of Gaia underneath me, around me
And for a brief second I connected with her
And it was cleansing.
A new power surged from within, a virility, a reconfirmation
And I came to realise in that brief instant
How we are all chemical reactions that started from Energy.

We Humans are not the Lords of this Earth,
We are a part of the energy that is unique to this Gaia, this Earth
The negative feelings in us are because we are in dis-ease
Many of us have lost the frequency of that inner pulse
Where once we held it and somehow, someway we lost it.

Each wave in this picture is energy dissipating, flowing back
Reforming again and again and again
We are chemical processes woven together by energies we just cannot fathom
Some have given it a name "God".
Others seek answers in science.

But Energy, the flow of it, the chemical processes that come forth from that
Cannot be named, cannot be concocted into a form
For in that brief second
I resonated as I closed my eyes and could feel in my mind knowledge
Understanding, reasoning and hope.

And the truth I came to fathom looking out to a beautiful aqua ocean
Was that the Earth would not allow us to destroy it
We are part of the ecology of this planet and not its Masters
We will stand corrected by the very nature of processes that define us.
