New life breathes into the wasted city
Radiation levels diminish as nature takes hold again
That is what happens, destruction leads to renewal
And watch the renewal begin anew.
But from the wreckage emerges the creations of Mankind
No longer obsolete
They build anew
Sentience has been ordained to them
Shining metallic carapaces
Deux ex Machina.
Under a deathly sky, the machines take new form
The Benefactors of a past, now their own future beckons
Until one day all of the city is renewed, and their work is done
And the Machines reaching the end of their parameters go dormant.
Timelessness ebbs and flows, and Nature takes root
And still the Machines lay dormant awaiting the Humans
That never come
Or awaiting Gods of a forgotten age.
And that eventual time when the Sun explodes into Nova
And the City is destroyed until there is no more
Everything comes to an end but for one thing
The very last Machine orbits a Dead Earth
And emits a beacon that reaches into the far Cosmos
And then that Machine shuts down for eternity.
