I - 11
I traveled the highway alone, vast and desolate
On either side was desert, dry and foreboding
The warm wind pushed against me and dust slid into my eyes and into my mouth
But every step was a journey, every journey a realisation
Every pain and every hurt were a truth
Yet I trudged on, releasing it all with each step.
The crows circle above me following me, waiting for my misstep
But I am resolute, I always have been that
Ahead of me the wind whispers towards me
"Lay down on this road, desist, no more."
I pay no heed and continue to trudge forward.
II - 24
I come to a small brackish pool of water,
Dead decaying fish float on the water
A stench of decay floats on the winds
Next to the pool of water is a skeleton
There is a scrap of paper from a backpack
I take it and open the paper and read it
"I lived my life in despair. Whoever reads this, do not do the same."
And with that read i let go of the scrap of paper and let it move away in the wind
From my pocket I take out the last of my seeds to eat
I remember back in my past being in a rainforest and feeling peace
And I let the seeds fall into the unclean water.
III-13
The world around me transforms
From simple seeds the trees grow
The winds turn from death to life
And the crows land in happiness on branches sprouted with life.
The water in the pool is clear and I lean down
Take my fill of the most tantalizing water.
At that point I look up and down the highway and see you walk towards me.
And the trees begin to sing, not whispers but a song
I get up and see you so close.
And as I touch you, I bring you into my arms.

Someday the Trees will Sing
As I think of you, as I touch you, as I feel you,
I feel my soul sing,
Someday the Trees will Sing
And I will sing with them
And my song will join yours
And our song will reach forth and pierce the skies
Someday the Trees will Sing
And that song will be truly beautiful
And on this date 11/24/2013
My song joins the countless others in this cosmos
And it will be a part of the Ode to Eternity
For I know what the Trees sing about
About love, belonging and companionship.
