Syrophenikon

Authored: July 25, 2013

You deceived me, you tore out my heart,
Your lies unmasked you and showed, me
who you truly are.
You deceiver, you who said,
You'd always love me and be true to me.
You who said you would be honest with me.
So I sit here at the shore-line,
looking out over the crystalline blue,
of the ocean.
My hand picks up segments of sand and,
I watch as the sand escapes my clutches.
You were like the particles of sand,
You acted like you loved me,
but you were not truly here or there,
for your heart was not in love,
but in lust.
Not only did you deceive me,
you deceived yourself.
For the heart of the deceiver, in the end,
will be deceived.
I will not feel sorry for you,
but I do feel pity for your weakness.
Syrophenikon - the unmasking.
Now we see who you are,
your face unmasked to all asunder,
Tell me, what do you see when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud of what you see?
Or does the mirror crack a little more each day?
Until it shall shatter into a million pieces,
Wanting escape from the deceit that you caste out.
