I saw you in my dreams, beloved one.
I saw you with another, I saw you smiling
And I was content to let you go
To be your friend, for I understood my love
That you needed to move on and forwards
Nothing lasts forever, not even you and me.

I saw you in my dreams, loved one.
I saw you content, happy
And I was happy for you
As I stand here on this beach watching the waves lap at my feet
I don't envy you your happiness.
You and I had a brilliant past
You will always have a part of my heart.

I saw you, and you turn and see me
And you blow me a kiss
I cherish that and take it.
It is what it is, and I know we will remain friends
For our past never separates us
It drew and draws us always together.

We owe it to ourselves to love again
Maybe our roads align in the future
But for now, we will be friends
Maybe we will find ourselves together again
Or maybe not.
